Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Josh Primo was born in Toronto, Canada in December of 2002. He played high school basketball at Huntington Prep School in West Virginia with teammate and fellow NBA prospect JT Thor. Primo transferred to Royal Crown Academic School in Toronto and graduated early as a member of the 2020 class. Primo was rated a five-star recruit by 247Sports and committed to Alabama over Creighton. As a freshman, Primo was the youngest player in all of college basketball. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman team after putting up 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game and helped lead Alabama to a Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Surprisingly, Primo declared for the 2021 NBA Draft while retaining his college eligibility, but after a strong showing at the NBA Combine, he remained in the draft. Primo was drafted 12th overall by the San Antonio Spurs and was assigned to the Austin Spurs on October 27th, 2021. Following his debut on October 21st, 2021, Primo became the youngest player who attended college to play in the NBA.

The Clippers waived Primo (ankle) on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Primo is being cut loose to make room on the 15-man roster for Kai Jones, who agreed to a multi-year deal with the Clippers ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Rockets. Primo averaged just 1.0 points in 5.0 minutes across two appearances with the Clippers and hasn't played at the NBA or G League level since March 24 due to a left ankle sprain.

Will get chance at starting gig
GSan Antonio Spurs
September 28, 2022
Primo is one of the top candidates to replace Dejounte Murray as the Spurs' starting point guard, Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports.
ANALYSIS
The 12th overall pick in the 2021 draft, Primo averaged nearly 20 minutes a game last season as a rookie, but his production was lacking. The 19-year-old expects to be deployed in a more versatile role rather than sticking at the point, however. "Honestly, I still feel like a position-less player," Primo said on the eve of training camp. "I have always been a position-less player... I don't think I am ever going to stop that, but whatever Pop needs me to do out there, I am going to do." Tre Jones, a second-round pick in 2020, appears to be his primary competition for the starting spot at the point.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
Primo could find himself thrust into a more prominent role this season with the Spurs eyeing the future. He played 50 games during his rookie season, putting up 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 19.3 minutes per game. Now that the team wants to get a look at their young assets, Primo's playing time could increase out of the gate. However, his exact role remains unclear, so managers will want to keep an eye on how coach Greg Popovich utilizes him during the preseason outings. At best, he should be viewed as a last-round target unless it becomes clear he will be prioritized.
