Tuesday's Plays

I'm on a mini hot streak after going 3-0, +$323 last night, raising my season record to 12-5, +$708.  I've done it by isolating my action to the one or two games that stand out most, based on specific trends (my preferred method) and select statistical anomalies.  Right or wrong, if it works it works.  You may not get rich betting this way, but any time you can end the day with more money than you started is a good day.

Whatever your system is when betting, it is critical that you avoid one of the biggest mistakes that sports gamblers often make, which is to increase the number of bets or the amount they wager when they are either A) on a streak and they want to cash in even more or B) when they are down and are looking to wipe out their debt with one big win.  As hard as it is to bet on baseball, one key strategy is to keep your wagers consistent no matter how hot or cold you may be.

Giants -103 over Milwaukee
Bet $103
This game features one of the better pitching matchups, with Matt Cain (3-2, 2.67 ERA) facing Shaun Marcum (2-2, 3.31).  Cain won his last two outings after going 0-2 despite a 2.08 ERA over his previous four starts while receiving four total runs in support.  The Giants are 5-2 in Cain's last seven starts, and the offense should get a boost from the return of Angel Pagan (stomach flu), who is batting .439 during an 11-game hitting streak.  Meanwhile, Marcum is 1-1 with a 4.13 ERA in four career starts against the Giants.  The Brewers are 1-6 in his last seven starts, 1-4 in their last five home games, and could be without Ryan Braun, who left last night's game with tightness in his groin.  Even with Braun in the lineup, the Giants are 5-1 in the last six meetings and 9-3 in the last 12 games in Milwaukee.

Good luck!
