Tuesday's Plays

In an effort to get back in the win column, I am doubling up on my beloved Yankees:

Yankees +122 over Angels / Over 7.5
Bet $150 / $100
In yesterday's contest, these two teams combined to score 17 runs on 25 hits.  There is no reason to suggest they won't do the same tonight, especially since they were forced to use a combined 11 pitchers, weakening both bullpens.  Despite this offensive display, Dan Haren (2-5, 3.76 ERA) has the fourth-lowest run support average in the majors (2.23 runs). If that holds up, he'll need to duplicate his last effort, in which he tossed a four-hitter while striking out a career-high 14 in a 3-0 win.  But that was against the Mariners, and tonight he faces the Yankees.  Before that stellar performance, Haren had posted a 5.79 ERA in losing his previous four starts.  For the Yankees, Alex Rodriguez has enjoyed success facing Haren, hitting .300 (6-27) with a home run.  But that pales when compared to the red hot Mark Teixeira, who homered, singled and walked three times last night.  Teixeira is 11 for 21 with four home runs, three doubles and 10 RBIs for a 1.868 OPS in his last six games, and is hitting .269 (7-26) with three home runs vs. Haren.  Andy Pettitte (2-1, 2.53) has put together solid performances in winning his last two outings.  He allowed four hits in eight innings in a 4-0 victory over the Reds, following that up by permitting two runs and seven hits in seven innings in an 8-3 win over the Royals.  Although he is starting to swing the bat like the Albert Pujols we all know and love, he is hitting just .217 (5-23) with no home runs against Pettitte, and fellow Angel Howie Kendrick is hitting .190 (4-21) with no home runs.  Last night's loss snapped a five game winning streak for the Yankees.  Tonight they return the favor and snap the Angels seven game winning streak.

Good luck!
