DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

College hoops took a backseat for Super Bowl LV on Sunday, but the players are back on the hardwood with the largest Monday DFS slate so far this season with six games on DraftKings, while FanDuel is running just four games.

Targets

1. Liam Robbins, F, Minnesota ($7,500 DK)

The Gophers have been inconsistent as a team recently, but Robbins has been quite effective and has been a team leader in recent contests. He's topped 35.0 DFS points on DraftKings during three of the last four games, with his lone outlier coming during a game in which the entire team struggled and only put up 49 points on the scoreboard against Purdue. The Gophers have the second-highest expected total of any team on Monday's slate, and the 7-footer could dominate under the basket against a slightly smaller Nebraska frontcourt.

2. Armando Bacot, F, North Carolina ($6,700 DK, $6,600 FD)

Bacot has been another player who has been especially hot recently, putting up at least 15 points on the scoreboard in five of the last seven contests. Bacot has had plenty of usage in the frontcourt and has boosted his DFS value this season through his production on the boards. The center and the entire Tar Heels offense struggled in their Feb. 2 loss to Clemson, but Bacot has been dominant otherwise and could approach 5x value for DFS players Monday, especially with North Carolina's lofty expected scoring total against Miami.

3. Derrick Walker, F, Nebraska ($4,300 DK)

Walker made his season debut Jan. 10 and has only appeared in two games since the Cornhuskers had a lengthy layoff. However, the transfer from Tennessee has taken on a prominent starting role during his first two appearances with his new program and has been an effective DFS producer during that time. He's averaging 24.5 minutes per game and should continue to see plenty of playing time against the Gophers. He only mustered four points during Saturday's loss to Michigan State, but his versatility in several categories gives him DFS value, especially with his low-tier salary.

Fades

1. Isaac Likekele, G, Oklahoma State ($6,000 DK, $5,600 FD)

Likekele has been dealing with a foot injury for about a month but had been effective to begin the calendar year. However, his production has dropped off over the past two games, averaging just 3.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists during that time. It's not clear whether the downturn in output has been related to his foot issue, but there are several other mid-tier DFS players on Monday's slate that could be safer plays given Likekele's recent cold stretch.

2. Warith Alatishe, F, Oregon State ($7,200 DK)

Alatishe was quite dominant to begin the season, but he's cooled off since the start of the calendar year. He's still shown flashes of elite production for the Beavers, but he's scored fewer than 22.0 DFS points in seven of the last 10 games. His best production has come when he's had double-digit rebounds, but Colorado has been above average on the boards this year. Oregon State has the lowest expected scoring total on Monday's slate with Colorado favored by 12.5 points, so Alatishe could struggle once again, especially if he's unable to bring in many rebounds.

3. Aaron Wiggins, G, Maryland ($7,300 DK, $6,500 FD)

Wiggins had a strong performance in Tuesday's thrilling victory over Purdue, but he responded with one of his worst outings of the season Friday against Penn State. He shot just 9.1 percent from the floor against the Nittany Lions and was unable to generate much output in other areas. The 6-foot-6 guard's DFS salary hovers near the upper echelon of players on Monday's slate, especially on DraftKings. On the other side of the court in Monday's matchup, Justice Sueing ($7,600 DK, $7,000 FD) is in the same DFS salary range as Wiggins but has had a hot hand recently and presents much more upside. Wiggins could struggle to bounce back against an elite Ohio State program Monday, and DFS players would be better off searching for value elsewhere.
