Sutton announced Thursday that he has elected to retire from professional football, CFL.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
In a post on his personal Instagram account, Sutton suggested that he always intended for 2020 to be his final year in the CFL, but he didn't get the chance to receive a proper sendoff after the league cancelled the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than preparing for another training camp in 2021, the 34-year-old running back will instead call an end to a stellar career. Over parts of seven seasons in Canada with the Alouettes, Lions, Argonauts and Tiger-Cats, Sutton appeared in 77 games and accrued 4,044 rushing yards and 1,665 receiving yards while reaching the end zone 21 times.
