Rambo transfers in to Miami after flashing potential mixed with inconsistency as a former top recruit at Oklahoma, looking to give the ‘Canes a reliable second receiver opposite Mike Harley. Rambo is best suited on the outside, where his speed can shine, and all accounts are he enjoyed a fine spring playing with the ‘Canes backup quarterbacks while starter D’Eriq King recovers from a torn ACL. A healthy King, paired with Rambo and Harley sets up dynamically, but Rambo did lead the Sooners in drops last season, something Miami’s other receivers (Mark Pope, Dee Wiggins) have struggled with, costing them their quarterbacks trust. There’s no shortage of other options as Miami routinely brings in athletic wideouts trying to earn an opportunity. But Rambo went for 743 yards and five scores on only 43 grabs (17.3 ypc) in 2019, showing he doesn’t need a huge target share to have an impact.
Rambo will enter the year as the Sooners' top receiver after CeeDee Lamb left early for the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He's earned this role after pulling down 43 catches for 743 yards and five touchdowns on 63 targets during his sophomore season. The question mark for Rambo will be his chemistry with new quarterback Spencer Rattler, a five-star recruit who has yet to make his first collegiate start. Considering Lincoln Riley's track record with quarterbacks, there's a good chance that Rambo exceeds his expectations for this season and serves as a nice investment in upcoming fantasy drafts.
With teammate CeeDee Lamb slotting in to Marquise Brown's lead receiver spot, Rambo becomes the best candidate for the second receiver spot. While he caught just eight passes for 125 yards and a score in his freshman season, he flashed in the Orange Ball with a deep-ball score which showed his potential in Lincoln Riley's system. New transfer quarterback Jalen Hurts won't be as productive as Kyler Murray or Baker Mayfield, but Rambo should still be relevant in the fantasy world in 2019.
