Ryan O'Keefe

Wide ReceiverWR
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Ryan O’Keefe will be asked to fill a major hole for the Eagles offense after transferring in from Central Florida for his graduate season. Boston College lost leading receiver Zay Flowers to the first round of the NFL draft, and second-leading receiver Jaelin Gill has transferred to Fresno State, leaving this offense with 105 catches, 1465 yards and 12 touchdowns to replace. O’Keefe was a volume guy at UCF, turning 218 targets into 157 catches, 1,537 yards and 12 touchdowns over his last two seasons in Orlando. That’s a respectable 9.8 ypc, and O’Keefe has strong ability after the catch, with 1,026 yards coming with the ball in his hands. The Eagles aren’t a dynamic offense overall, and they are hoping to be more balanced this year after averaging a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. But O’Keefe appears to be the unquestioned leader of this receiving corps, seemingly setting him up for ample opportunities that will likely come cheaply on draft day. Read Past Outlooks
Medically retires from football
December 18, 2023
O'Keefe (neck) has medically retired from football, according to his announcement Monday.
ANALYSIS
Back on Sept. 30, O'Keefe suffered a brutal hit during Boston College's game against Virginia. Despite being medically discharged pretty quickly, the senior kept undergoing scans and tests that eventually diagnosed with congenital spinal stenosis, a spine condition he has had since birth. But because of the condition and Sept. 30 hit, returning to football means a huge severity risk, which O'Keefe continues not to test. Such will be the case moving forward. O'Keefe finished his collegiate career with 2,773 scrimmage yards (11 averaged per play) and 18 touchdowns across four seasons.

2022 Fantasy Outlook
UCF has a quarterback situation to sort through with Dillon Gabriel gone, but O’Keefe will remain a focal point of the passing game. He led the Knights in targets (114), catches (84), and yards (812) while catching seven touchdowns last season. UCF brought in Auburn transfer Kobe Hudson, who carried that passing game in 2021 and will be a factor for targets this fall. Even if O’Keefe doesn’t get a 30 percent target share as he did in 2021, he still projects for a significant role in a high-scoring offense. O’Keefe’s rushing ability (274 yards, one TD) is an added bonus.
