2023 Fantasy Outlook
Following a breakout sophomore campaign, Tyler Van Dyke was plagued by injury last year, but looks poised for a major rebound campaign. As a first-year starter as a sophomore, Van Dyke threw for 2,931 yards and 25 yards two seasons ago but was limited to 1,835 and 10 scores last year while missing three games with a shoulder issue and being limited at best in three others. There were still glimpses of his potential; a 496-yard game against North Carolina and a 342-yard game against Virginia Tech are noteworthy. Van Dyke also gets a new scheme to bolster his rebound as well, with Shannon Dawson coming in to run an air raid system that will allow him to check at the line and make reads. Miami also has bolstered their offensive line through transfers and incoming freshman, which should make it far better than a year ago. There are questions at receiver, as the ‘Canes don’t have a true alpha, but rather a deep unit awaiting multiple pieces to emerge. Still, things are trending favorably for Van Dyke to regain his status as a potential NFL Draft prospect, and if it comes at a reduced price thanks to last season, he’s going to provide ample return on investment and can even be a QB1 in any and all formats.
