  • Woods is now averaging 5.4 catches for 64.4 yards on 7.8 targets per game. He's taken only four carries for 18 yards, though, and hasn't seen a rush attempt since Week 3.
  • Kupp saw 29% of targets Thursday and is now at 33.1% for the year, third best in the league. And only Davante Adams (61 targets) has more raw targets than Kupp (56).
  • DeSean Jackson made another big play, but his snap share was 30%, nearly identical to the previous two weeks (32%, 32%). Jefferson is still getting about twice as many snaps and routes, and he also has a 16-11 target edge over D-Jax over the past three games.
  • Higbee has been targeted on only 14.7% of routes, the fifth-lowest rate out of 20 TEs with 100 or more routes. He's keeping company with Donald Parham and Jordan Akins on that one, rather than guys who are useful for fantasy. Of course, Higbee plays a lot more snaps than Parham and Akins, ranking third among all TEs with 169 routes.

  • Gerald Everett (reserve/COVID-19) missed a second straight game, but would've been eligible if the Seahawks had played Friday. Tough break.
  • QB Russell Wilson (finger) is looking at a multi-week absence, with estimates varying from "a few weeks" to "most of the season".
  • Lockett actually saw the most targets (four) from Geno Smith but caught only one of them. Metcalf saw three and put up 3-54-1, with Dissly adding 2-29-0 on three Geno targets. Swain and Alex Collins also saw two targets apiece from Mr. Smith.

  • The Jets had each of their top-five WRs healthy for the first time, while TE Tyler Kroft (back) was inactive.
    • Davis was the No. 1 and Crowder the slot man, while Cole and Moore essentially split the No. 2 job. Meanwhile, Mims and Braxton Berrios barely played.
  • Moore took just six of his 22 snaps (27%) in the slot, while Crowder took 87% of his there.
  • Griffin handled an every-down role but predictably did nothing with it.
  • Davis ranks 26th among WRs with 21.6% target share. Not sure that's enough to make him a reliable WR3 in an offense this bad.

  • Russell Gage (ankle) and Calvin Ridley (personal) were out, leaving Zaccheaus and Sharpe as the starting wide receivers. Ultimately, the Falcons relied on their backs and tight ends to carry the passing game, which should be the case any time Ridley is unavailable or struggling.
  • Pitts was the headliner in London, with career highs in pretty much everything but snap share. Of course, he mostly just came off the field for run plays, running just four fewer routes than de facto No. 1 receiver Zaccheaus.
    • Pitts' 144 routes through five weeks are fifth most among TEs. And he's now been targeted on 21.3% of them.
  • Sharpe finished with 4-53-0 on five targets, perhaps making a case for the second or third receiver spot even after the Falcons start to get healthier there.

    • Smith, of course, leads all TEs in TPRR, with 23 targets but just 69 routes (33.3%). That's about his role more so than his ability to get open, but it's nonetheless a good sign for if Henry ever misses time.
  • Bourne finally found his Identity in this offense: he's the guy you always forget about. Which is ironic, because

  • In case you were wondering, coach David Culley doesn't expect Nico Collins (IR - shoulder) to return when he's first eligible in Week 6 (per Aaron Reiss of The Athletic). Danny Amendola (thigh) may return, while QB Tyrod Taylor is considered unlikely.
  • Playing in a horrific offense is catching up to Cooks, though Sunday was a relatively good day for the Texans.
  • Even in a week with some shocking stat lines, David Moore for 5-109-1 ranks pretty high up there. Prior to Sunday, he'd played one game and two offensive snaps all year.
    • The 2016 fourth-round pick mostly played on kickoff returns and special teams coverage units in his five seasons with the Ravens.
    • Chris Moore schooling Devin McCourty and J.C. Jackson sounds about right for Week 5, huh? (Moore scored a 67-yard touchdown on a #notgood defensive play by the #usuallygood Patriots secondary)
  • In addition to Moore's play, Davis Mills had a 40-yard completion to Chris Conley on a 4th-and-2 and a 37-yard TD pass to Conley on a flea-flicker.

  • Callaway had the hail mary and another TD, giving him three scores on 13 catches this year. He's working out alright for best ball, but the 18.3% target share (38th among WRs) isn't especially encouraging. He could be well below 15% if/when Michael Thomas (ankle) makes it back.
  • Deonte Harris left with a hamstring injury in the first half. The Saints ended up with Still as their No. 2 receiver and Montgomery at No. 3.

  • Curtis Samuel ran two routes before exiting with another aggravation of his groin injury. Coach Ron Rivera says the wideout is week-to-week.
    • With Dyami Brown (knee) and Cam Sims (hamstring) already out, Carter stepped up as the No. 2 receiver and made a couple big plays for a second straight week. The speedy veteran journeyman could fill in as the No. 2 receiver, or he might replace Humphries in the slot at some point. Deep league alert!
  • Seals-Jones filled in for Logan Thomas (IR - hamstring) with an every-down role and eight targets, not to mention both of Washington's end zone targets.
  • Milne, a seventh-round rookie, played more than four snaps on offense for the first time all year. He hasn't really played special teams, either, so it's hard to say why he was active before Week 5.

  • Gesicki has four straight weeks with six or more targets and 64% of snaps. The Dolphins' stinkiness is working out nicely for not-so-Killer Mike's fantasy managers.

  • Cameron Brate played only 38% of snaps and finished with a 12-yard catch on his lone target.
    • He got 30% of snaps in 11 personnel, down from 50% the week before (while Howard rose from 52% and 57%)
    • Brate still got 83% of snaps in multi-TE formations, so it's not like he was losing work to No. 3 TE Cody McElroy. But it's also not clear Brate should be ahead of Howard if Rob Gronkowski (ribs) misses more time. Perhaps slightly ahead.
  • Brown, Evans and Godwin all played less than half of the fourth-quarter snaps. Tom Brady was even subbed out for Blaine Gabbert in the fourth quarter.
  • While he's yet to go above 65% snap share, Brown is averaging 5.0 catches for 81.3 yards on 7.3 targets. Don't forget that he missed a game when looking at season totals.

  • Cephus suffered a broken collarbone and may miss the rest of the season. Hodge filled in as the No. 2 receiver.
  • St. Brown put up 7-65-0 on eight targets, following 6-70-0 on eight targets in Week 4. The past two games have also been his two largest snap shares (72% and 69%), and he finally got work on the perimeter in Week 5.
    • St. Brown took 77% of his snaps in the slot Weeks 1-4, but that dropped to 55% in Week 5.
  • They say if you go outside on a windy enough day you can still smell the Hockenson victory laps from Week 2.
    • I'm mostly kidding. Victory laps in the other direction would also be premature; he's still averaging 4.8 catches per game, and ranks second among TEs in routes run (18.2%). Maybe the fast start was foreshadowing a true breakout mid-season, if the Lions still have any fight left by then.

But his 3.9 aDOT is shallowest in the league among TEs with more than 12 targets (Jonnu Smith is a close second at 4.2 aDOT). Don't expect much more than the current average of 8.9 yards per catch.

    • He averaged only 3.7 targets per game last year. He's at 3.4 this year. With just one target inside the 10, and none from inside the 5.

  • Diontae Spencer played through a chest injury but only got two snaps, while Hinton stepped up as the new No. 3 receiver.
    • Hinton still has QB eligibility some places, which means he'll be worth adding in deeper two-QB/superflex leagues even if he's only seeing 2-3 targets per week. (I actually almost had to add Hinton in one league a couple weeks ago, but then fortunately won a FAAB race for Jacoby Brissett.)
  • Fant handled an every-down role with No. 2 TE Albert Okwuegbunam (hamstring) missing the first of at least three weeks. The targets weren't there,
  • Broncos coach Vic Fangio said Monday that Jerry Jeudy (ankle) has "made good progress", though the wideout won't be back for Week 6. Fangio added, "His return is not right around the corner, but it's getting closer."
  • In four games with Jeudy out, Sutton has averaged 6.0 catches for 90.8 yards on 9.0 targets, though the TD on Sunday was his first of the year.
    • Sutton got just three targets Week 1 with Jeudy active, but that was also the 6-4 wideout's first game back from an ACL tear.

  • JuJu injured his shoulder in the second quarter and now faces what likely will be season-ending surgery. The Steelers already had James Washington (groin) inactive Sunday, leaving McCloud as the No. 3 receiver.
  • Claypool's 57% snap share was a season low, but given his production (5-130-1) and the injuries around him, he could be in the 80s or even 90s going forward.
    • Claypool is now averaging 5.0 catches for 85.3 yards on 8.8 targets per game. Johnson is averaging 6.3 receptions for 76.3 yards on 9.3 targets. Both are auto-starts now.
  • Freiermuth got more snaps than Ebron, but mostly the change was Ebron losing snaps to No. 3 TE Zach Gentry, who played a season-high 34% of snaps and caught one of two targets for 13 yards (but ran only four routes).

  • Yes, this is the same Marcus Johnson who played for the Eagles and Colts. He was on IR for the first four games of the season, but then started and put up 3-53-0 with both Julio Jones (hamstring) and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (hamstring) missing Sunday's win over Jacksonville.
  • I'm glad the knee surgeries scared me away from Brown, because that was my only hesitation. And, actually, he should still be fine and have a big season; just not big enough to make up for such a poor start from such an early pick.
  • Firkser has played 48, 50 and 42 percent of snaps in his three games, with either four or five targets and exactly three receptions in each. He's averaging just 25.0 ypg and 8.3 ypr.

  • Marvin Jones going 1-25-0 in the first game without DJ Chark is amusing. But for that to happen in a game where Dan Arnold, Jamal Agnew and Tavon Austin combined for 17 receptions.... gotta love football!
    • It'll be interesting to see if Jones scores three or four TDs once you bench him. Please remind me to pick up Trevor Lawrence that week.
  • Agnew took 71% of his snaps in the slot, while Shenault was at only 15%.
    • Prior to Week 5, Shenault took 82% of his snaps in the slot. Then, he got 85% on the perimeter Sunday afternoon.
    • Seems odd to move Shenault around to accommodate Agnew. I'd play Viska wherever I wanted him long term. Then again, there is no long term for this coaching staff in Duval. November vs. January is the question.
  • Shenault played 17 of 19 snaps in 12 personnel, but only 71% of snaps in 11 personnel.
    • Prior to this week, he rarely played in 12 and rarely missed a snap in 11. So, he really is playing a new position.
  • Twitter favorite Tyron Johnson didn't play, stuck on the bench even as his team resorted to using return specialists as wide receivers in place of Chark. Insulting, right?
  • Jacob Hollister technically started but played only 21% of snaps, clearing the way for Arnold to set career highs for both snap share (74%) and targets (eight).

  • Ertz has played 50-64% of snaps each week, and now has six or more targets in three straight. Production (14-160-1) has been lacking, but he's a threat for double-digit targets if Dallas Goedert (reserve/COVID-19) isn't eligible for TNF against the Bucs this week.
  • Smith is 24th among WRs in target share (22.8%) and sixth in AY share (41.9%).
    • His 535 total air yards are good for 11th, nestled between Hollywood Brown (554) and Justin Jefferson (513).
  • Watkins played more snaps than Reagor for the first time, though the latter saw two more targets. Watkins had the better day, yet again, catching each of his three targets for 48 yards.
    • Watkins has caught 13 of 17 targets for 267 yards. He's been efficient even without the 92-yard play in Week 2, adding gains of 53, 41 and 26.
    • I loved Reagor as a prospect, but it's hard to find a silver lining apart from youth / lack of experience (and even the latter is questionable now, as he's played a bunch and just hasn't done much). Anyway, I'd take Watkins over Reagor r-o-s. Eating my L on that one.

  • Did Dan Arnold curse the Panthers on his way out?
  • Prior to Sunday, Thomas had played 21 consecutive games with snap share above 50 percent and no more than three receptions. He finally made it to four catches, but there's still no fantasy upside given that he's just sharing with Tremble instead of Arnold.
  • Anderson's target share is at least up the past two weeks (28% in Week 4, 21% in Week 5). He and Sam Darnold are trying to fix their toxic relationship, I guess. Don't worry, Robby, we all know you're not the problem.

  • Goodwin and Damiere Byrd (44% of snaps) split the No. 3 role again. But Byrd hasn't seen a target since Week 1, despite logging 105 snaps over the past four weeks.
  • Robinson is averaging 5.8 targets pre game and hasn't seen more than six since Week 1. His target share (24.2%) is fine, but everything else is a disaster, with the Bears reverting to ground-and-pound as they break in a struggling rookie QB. There will be weeks where Justin Fields has to throw out of necessity, but the Bears otherwise appear decent enough to stay competitive most weeks.
  • Mooney still has the most targets from Fields, accounting for 20 of the rookie's 74 (27%), while Robinson has seen 18 (24%).

  • Renfrow topped his season-high 67% snap share from the week before, and he's now at five in a row with either five or six receptions. TBD how the Gruden exit impacts him, not to mention Waller and the rest of the offense.
  • Ruggs is down to 14.4% target share, and Edwards to 11.3%. Renfrow, meanwhile, ranks 34th among WRs at 19.5%.

  • The Browns ran 23 snaps out of 13 personnel, including eight pass plays. Five of those were targets to David Njoku, who caught all five for 134 yards and a TD.
    • Njoku made his case for more snaps moving forward, but in Sunday's game he and Austin Hooper had an exact 50/50 split of the playing time in 11 personnel.
  • Njoku ran a route on 60% of dropbacks, up from 38% in Week 4 and 51% across Weeks 1-2 (Njoku missed Week 3).
    • That's enough for fantasy relevance, but not stardom. He still needs to take more snaps and routes from Hooper to be reliable, in all likelihood. Or if the Browns shift to even heavier usage of multi-TE sets, and continue to throw efficiently from those formations.

    • In any case, playing time isn't even his biggest problem. It's close enough to back to normal that he should at least be doing something.

  • Sterling Shepard and Darius SLayton were inactive with hamstring injuries. Then Saquon Barkley sprained his ankle, Daniel Jones got concussed and Kenny Golladay hyperextended his knee.
    • Golladay and Barkley appear likely to miss Week 6, at the very least.
  • Engram saw only four targets but led the team in routes. The Giants may need to use more multi-TE sets whether they want to or not, even if Engram is basically just a receiver. He'll always be tough to trust, but the targets should be there if Slayton and Shepard miss more time (and maybe even if they don't).
  • Toney accounted for eight of the 23 targets (34.7 percent) from backup QB Mike Glennon. The rookie caught six of those passes for 109 yards, while no other Giant saw more than three targets from Glennon, with Engram, Ross, C.J. Board and RB Devontae Booker all seeing exactly that many.
  • Toney was ejected for throwing a punch, and while the NFL doesn't intend to suspend him, the young wideout could miss Week 6 with an ankle/foot injury.
  • In addition to all the skill-position injuries, LT Andrew Thomas (foot) was only available as an emergency substitute and didn't play.

  • I'm seeing a disparity between different stat sites when it comes to Schultz's routes, so I wouldn't worry too much about the number looking low (PFF has him with 27 routes on Dak Prescott's 35 dropbacks).
  • Ok, I'm officially worried about Lamb and Cooper. They'll still have huge games, but the Cowboys are sending way more touches and targets to RBs and TEs than anyone ever could've guessed.

5Gabriel Davis24%514%124%20%3.200
  • Beasley's snap share plummeted to 39%, with the Bills now using multi-TE/FB formations more (depending on whether you want to call H-back Reggie Gilliam a TE or FB for official purposes
    • Beasley still took 75% of snaps in 11 personnel, which is right around his norm apart from 89% in Week 1.
    • Beasley played only 33% of snaps in the first quarter, and 44% before halftime. So we can't blame game script for his reduced role, at least not for the most part.
    • Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News reports that Bills coach Sean McDermott said Beasley's reduced playing time was "gameplan related more than anything." McDermott then added, "We've got a lot of confidence in Cole across the building here... I mean, it's not easy when you go a week or two with not getting the ball a lot, but it says a lot about who he is and his unselfish nature."
    • Summary: I don't want to start Beasley for now, but the Bills will need him more as the season goes on, be it due to injuries, game script, or something else. Drop him in shallow leagues but not deeper ones.
  • Sanders leads the NFL with seven end-zone targets this season. And a 16.5 aDOT ties him with Courtland Sutton for deepest in the league among players with 20 or more targets.

  • Hardman had season highs for catches (nine), yards (76) and targets (12), but the snap share was only tied for his second best of the year.
    • Hardman ran fewer routes than Robinson for a second straight week.
    • Hardman is averaging 4.4 catches for 39.8 yards on 6.0 targets, with his 7.2 aDOT down from 11.0 in 2019 and 10.6 in 2020. His YAC average (5.7) is also down considerably, but he should do better than his current average of 9.0 yards per catch going forward.

  • T.Y. Hilton (neck) missed a fifth straight game.
  • Pittman is 14th among WRs with 25.1% target share. He made some big-boy plays Monday night, including a Moss-ing of helpless Ravens cornerback Anthony Averett.
  • Still a rotation at TE. Alie-Cox put up 3-50-0 after 3-42-2 the week before, but he could easily finish without a catch next week. Don't trust it unless his role truly expands.
  • Pascal took 66% of his snaps in the slot, while Campbell got just one of his 35 (3%) there.
    • Campbell was mostly profiled as a slot guy coming out, though he does have the physical specs (namely speed) to stack up outside. It isn't clear if the Colts don't like him in the slot, or simply think Pascal is better. If it's the latter, they appear to be correct... though it does still kinda feel like Campbell hasn't had a real chance.

    • First-round pick Rashod Bateman (IR - groin) missed a fifth straight game.
  • Andrews finished with 11-147-2 on 13 targets, flashing a new ceiling. He's had plenty of big games, but never a huge one until now.
    • Prior to Monday, his career highs were 10 targets, eight catches and 112 yards. This was also his first time with 100 yards AND multiple TDs in the same game.
  • Brown is tied for the second-most EZ targets (six). And his nickname has proven fitting, with Hollywood giving us drops, highlights, game-winning TDs and WR1 production.
    • He probably can't maintain 11.9 YPT and a 73.7% catch rate, but it might be legit that he's among the top five most productive WRs on a per-target basis, somewhere a bit south of Tyreek Hill.
