Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might be dealt
Broberg might be used as a sweetener by Edmonton in an attempt to trade Jack Campbell's contract, per Darren Dreger of TSN.
ANALYSIS
Campbell's struggles have led to him being sent to AHL Bakersfield, but he's in just the second season of his five-year, $25 million contract, so if the Oilers have an opportunity to move him and free up cap space, they will likely try to do so. Offering Broberg might help in that regard. The 22-year-old defenseman was selected with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, but he hasn't found a consistent role with Edmonton. Broberg does have two goals and 11 points in 79 career NHL outings, but he's currently in Bakersfield, providing a goal and four points in eight AHL games this year. Even if it's not as part of a Campbell trade, Edmonton might deal Broberg to give him a better opportunity elsewhere.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2022
2020
Broberg, the No. 8 overall pick in 2019, finally made his NHL debut in 2021-22. He got into 23 games with the Oilers, managing a goal and a pair of assists. Broberg is a solid prospect. He's a high-end skater with at least average offensive abilities, but his decision making with the puck is questionable at times and his physical game is lacking. He should be a regular for the Oilers in 2022-23, but veterans such as Ryan Murray and Slater Koekkoek will be lurking should Broberg get off to a slow start.
