Out of UFC Vegas 87
Alvarez will no longer take on L'udovit Klein at UFC Vegas 87 for an undisclosed reason, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
It is unclear why Alvarez had to withdraw from the bout, but he will be replaced by AJ Cunningham. It remains to be seen when his next fight will be, but once a new one is booked he will look to build on the momentum of winning five of his six previous matches via stoppage.

Added to UFC Saudi Arabia
Alvarez will take on L'udovit Klein in a lightweight matchup at UFC Saudi Arabia on March 2, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Alvarez has won five of his last six fights via stoppage, with the lone blemish coming against a potential future title contender in Arman Tsarukyan. He now takes on a fighter in Klein who has won three of his last four, though all of those victories have gone to the judges. Both fighters sport similar striking volumes, but Klein appears more likely to bring his wrestling game to the table -- something Alvarez has struggled with on occasion.

Returns from long layoff with win
Alvarez defeated Marc Diakiese via submission (Brabo choke) at 4:26 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
It was Alvarez's first bout since February 2022, and it ended controversially. Joel was clearly the better fighter the entire way, but it was an accidental clash of heads that was missed by referee Dan Movahedi that put Alvarez in a position in which he was able to choke Diakiese out. There's a real chance this result gets changed to a no contest, which would be unfortunate for Alvarez considering how strong he looked prior to the finish. Regardless of the end result, expect Joel to get back in the Octagon as soon as possible considering all the time he he has missed recently.

Diakiese fight scheduled
Alvarez (undisclosed) will fight Marc Diakiese in a lightweight bout at UFC London on July 22, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Alvarez will try to fight for the first time in more than 15 months. He broke two ribs during his previous fight and withdrew from a Feb. 11 matchup because of an undisclosed injury. Now healthy, the lightweight will try to continue where he left his UFC career off.

Out of UFC 284
Alvarez (undisclosed) will no longer face Zubaira Tukhugov at UFC 284 on Feb. 11, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Alvarez had been on a four-fight winning streak prior to falling to Arman Tsarukyan in February of 2022, but will now have to wait a while before getting the opportunity to bounce back against a quality opponent. In his stead, UFC newcomer Elves Brenner will step in to face Tukhugov in the event's preliminary fights.
