Wins after missing weight
BantamweightUFC
July 10, 2021
Aldana defeated Yana Kunitskaya via TKO (punches) at 4:35 of Round 1 at UFC 264 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Aldana seemed quite pleased with her effort in her post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. As she should have been, except for the fact she missed weight by 3.5 pounds on Friday morning and had to forfeit 30 percent of her purse to Kunitskaya in order for the fight to proceed. Aldana blamed coming in heavy on getting her menstrual cycle during fight week, which may very well be the truth given the fact she had never missed weight in her career prior to Saturday. Regardless, it was a nice performance on the heels of a lousy effort in a main event spot against Holly Holm last October. One counter left hand from Aldana was all it took to essentially end Kunitskaya's evening. There's nothing in Aldana's resume to suggest she can hang with the best the division has to offer despite this effort. Her 6-4 career record with the UFC is more indicative of her overall talent level.

Aldana will take on Yana Kunitskaya as originally planned at UFC 264 but will have to forfeit 30 percent of her purse for being overweight, Jose Youngs of MMA Fighting reports.
ANALYSIS
Aldana cited that the reason she's overweight is that she got her menstrual cycle during fight week and her body stopped sweating because of it. This is the first time she's ever been overweight for a bout and will look to avenge herself after losing to Holly Holmes back in October.
Misses weight badly
BantamweightUFC
July 9, 2021
Aldana weighed in at 139.5 pounds at Friday's weigh-ins, missing weight by 3.5 pounds, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Aldana was well overweight ahead of her fight against Yana Kunitskaya. She undoubtedly will have to forfeit some percentage of her purse if the bout proceeds as planned. The UFC has yet to release an official announcement on the plans for the fight.
