Portland Trail Blazers at Houston Rockets

Trail Blazers Outpace Rockets, 125-110
The Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Houston Rockets, 125-110, at Toyota Center on Friday night.

The Trail Blazers (21-28) came out of the gates hot, jumping out to a 32-20 lead over the first 12 minutes. The Rockets (14-35) were much more competitive in the second quarter while scoring 33 points, but Portland still held a 13-point advantage at halftime. Houston was able to knock seven points from its deficit in the third quarter, but the visitors were able to outscore their hosts by a 34-25 margin over the final 12 minutes to secure the win.

Anfernee Simons led the Trail Blazers with 27 points, complementing them with six assists, three rebounds and one steal. CJ McCollum delivered 26 points, five assists and three rebounds. Jusuf Nurkic generated a 25-point, 13-rebound double-double that included one steal and one block. Norman Powell registered 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Robert Covington delivered 13 points, five rebounds, one assist, three blocks and two steals. Ben McLemore poured in 12 points.

Christian Wood and Garrison Mathews paced the Rockets with matching 21-point tallies, with Wood also posting 15 rebounds and Mathews dishing out three assists among their other contributions. Jalen Green turned in 17 points, five assists, five rebounds and one steal. Kenyon Martin Jr. also pitched in 17 points and managed three rebounds, two assists and one block. Jae'Sean Tate supplied 12 points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal.

The Trail Blazers remain on the road and tangle with the Chicago Bulls on Sunday afternoon, while the Rockets host the Golden State Warriors on Monday night.
