Re-ups with Buccaneers
Tampa Bay re-signed Edmonds on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Edmonds returns to a Buccaneers team that trusted him with the No. 2 role behind lead back Rachaad White last season. Across 13 regular-season appearances in 2023, Edmonds rushed 49 times for 176 yards and secured 14 of 17 catches for 81 yards, all without a single touchdown. He could be primed for a similar role in 2024, though Sean Tucker will be a candidate to carve out a larger workload Year 2, and Tampa Bay could still add to the backfield in free agency or April's draft.

Positive outlook for wild-card game
Edmonds, who sat out the Cardinals' Week 18 loss to the Seahawks with a rib injury, has declared himself healthy and ready to go for Monday night's wild-card matchup against the Rams, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmonds is notably dealing with a toe issue in addition to his rib ailment, but the fourth-year back appears undeterred by that in his outlook on his availability. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury unsurprisingly sounded a more reserved tone when asked Thursday, labeling both Edmonds and backfield mate James Conner, who's dealing with his own rib injury, game-time decisions. Edmonds' presence against the Rams would be especially valued for a couple of reasons -- not only did he rack up 120 rushing yards on 12 carries in his one regular-season game versus Los Angeles, but Conner appears to have at least a slight chance of sitting out the contest.

Edmonds makes for an intriguing, younger change-of-pace back for Tampa Bay than the retired Giovani Bernard and comes into the 2023 season with something to prove after being largely ignored in both Miami and Denver last season. Edmonds finished with just 68 carries and 16 receptions combined between those stops after putting together a career-best season with the Cardinals in 2021, during which he amassed 903 total yards. Rachaad White has a firm grasp on an early-down role and certainly isn't without pass-catching ability, but Edmonds' speed in space should help him separate from holdover Ke'Shawn Vaughn and allow him to garner the No. 2 RB role this summer.
