Finds new home in Atlanta
The Falcons signed Dwelley (ankle) on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Dwelley finished last season on injured reserve after sustaining an ankle injury, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue. After spending the first six seasons of his NFL career with the 49ers, the 29-year-old tight end has agreed to terms with the Falcons. Across his last three seasons, Dwelley has appeared in 41 games and made two starts, catching eight of his 12 targets for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Despite his underwhelming offensive production, the San Diego product has been a consistent contributor on special teams (619 snaps over the last three years), and he's expected to compete for a similar role in Atlanta.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Set for big role Sunday
Dwelley is expected to get the start again Sunday with George Kittle listed as doubtful due to knee and ankle injuries.
ANALYSIS
Dwelley started in place of Kittle last week and saw 80 snaps on offense but didn't make much impact as a receiver, catching three of seven targets for 24 yards. Sunday's matchup against the Cardinals -- by far the worst defense in the league against tight ends in 2019 -- gives the second-year player his best chance yet to show what he can do, however.

Dwelley re-signed in San Francisco after proving to be a reliable backup tight end through his first five years with the team. The 28-year-old filled in for George Kittle briefly last season, recording three receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. With the drafting of Cameron Latu in this year's draft, Dwelley will have to fight for his usual backup role in 2023.
